Web3 Discord Bot on Terra Blockchain

Depeg Nation wanted to launch a new Discord Bot for their community, capable of providing playable games where users could earn real money (including Depeg Nation own currency) on the new Terra blockchain.

What is DepegNation?

Depeg Nation is the first NFT commemorative community-driven project that launches on Terra 2.0. Their main goal is to increase adoption of Web 3.0 with the use of creator decentralized applications, and through the use of utility-first NFTs.

The problem

When I began working with Depeg Nation, they were in a tough situation. They were looking to launch a new Discord bot for their own Web3 community, capable of playing games, where players win real money.

They already had a bot written in Python that didn't work, but their main developer had left, so they reached out and asked me for help.

It's time to play!

I decided to rewrite the bot from scratch to provide a solid structure: I also redesigned the database, which had serious security problems (e.g private keys in plain text) and I re-made the entire bot with TypeScript and Node.js.

The first game they wanted to add was rock paper scissors, with two main gamemodes: player vs player, and player vs AI.

Results

As a final result they now have a bot with a extendible, containerized architecture with self-healing capabilities, which is now used by thousands of users daily to play crypto games on the Terra blockchain.

The bot has an extendible architecture to make it more simple to integrate with new features: in the future I will help Depeg Nation add more games to the existing bot.
